This is a single spring on a garage door. This setup is entry level builder grade level. This system is not very good because if the springs breaks then you need to lift the full weight of the garage door to get you vehicle out. Can you lift 200 lbs?

  • Single spring normally lasts 5-7 years
  • A single spring causes more wear and tear on the end plates.
  • In the future when the spring breaks you have to lift the full weight of the door to get your car out.
  • Using a single spring is a generic spring that works with lots of weights of doors. If your door is heavy, they just crank more turns on the spring to balance the door. The more turns on a springs reduces the life of the spring.

Things we inspect before we replace the garage door springs.

We Inspect all moving parts related the garage door and operator to make sure everything is good condition and installed the way it is supposed to be. We inspect the wood behind the spring bracket, torsion tube, door sections for cracks, #1 hinges , #2 hinges, #3 hinges, rollers, cables, end bearing plates, vertical tracks, horizontal track and back hangs. We also look the garage door operator.
We Inspect the wood the wood the garage door spring bracket is attached too. If a crack is there then the garage door spring bracket could come out and the door could fall down.
We Inspect the garage door torsion tube to make sure it is in good condition.

We Inspect the end bearing plates to make sure the bearing are in good shape and can turn freely when the garage door is being used. If you have these plastic we have metal ones that we can install that are much better.

We Inspect the garage door spring cables and make sure there are no loose strands. If the cables fail then the garage door will fall on one side. Very dangerous.
We Inspect the garage door garage door rollers and make sure the they are in good condition and they can roll. If the rollers are worn out when the door in open it does not sit in the track correctly and it could call down in the opening and hurt someone or something.
