Garage door not going down. This is caused by the photo eyes not lined up.
The gear broke off on top of the garage door opener/operator. The gear can be replaced but it depends on how old the machine is and the quality of garage door opener/operator.
Lots of people do not know that with a garage door operator there are things that you need to do to maintain them. One of those jobs is to keep the chain tight and this should be adjusted every year. 
This is a Wayne Dalton I-Drive operator and it is very old and does not work very good. We recommend replacing it with a new garage door operator.
